The company also attributes reduced air turbulence to recesses in the sidewall called Aerodimples. Its Silent Pattern concept varies tread-block spacing and angles to target noise frequencies typical of urban driving.

These remain manufacturer claims in the context of this announcement. The release supplies no figures showing the size of any energy, range or noise benefit, and it offers no comparison with the ID. Polo’s other possible fitments. Independent testing would therefore be needed to quantify the differences under controlled conditions.

For colder conditions, Continental says the WinterContact TS 870 P combines its tread and sipe design with a compound intended to remain flexible at low temperatures, supporting grip on snow and ice. The AllSeasonContact 2 is positioned as a single-set solution for summer driving and wet winter conditions, avoiding seasonal changes where climate and local rules permit.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="2560" height="1707" src="https://reifenlab.eu/mag/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/continental-wintercontact-ts-870-p-volkswagen-id-polo-scaled.jpg" alt="Continental WinterContact TS 870 P winter tyre recommended for the Volkswagen ID.
